It was a very expensive piece of furniture when it was new and is far more solidly made than a lot of furniture these days. The back is tongue and groove pine and the drawers have good solid wood bases that don't fall out! It measures a total of 138cm wide (at the plinth) and 62cm deep. It has been spacious enough to store clothes, footwear and accessories for us for many years and the top makes a great place to stow stuff too. It does split down into smaller sections for transportation.
The plinth at the top simply slides off. The body of the wardrobe lifts off the drawer base and will unscrew into two halves if you need to get it into a smaller van. The body of the wardrobe is 126cm wide and 142cm high. The base section is 58cm deep x 130cm wide by 43cm high. It will need two people to collect it from our upstairs room.
You are welcome to come and view it to satisfy yourself on the quality and condition if you wish. There is a very slightly splintered corner on the left side of the base that could be rubbed smoother if it offends.
There is also a minor split at the bottom edge of one drawer. Both are clearly shown in the photos and form part of the general distressed patina of a vintage item like this rather than detracting.
